Hatim (اتم):

(Ha-Teem) The name HATIM derives from the meaning “to be determined," signifying resolute decision-making, strength of purpose, and an unwavering commitment to one's goals. It also carries connotations of decisiveness and fairness, often linked to traits of leadership and integrity.

Who is Hatim?

My grandfather gifted me the middle name HATIM and I have worked my entire life to live up to its definition. Quite literally, determination is my middle name, and I have been determined to make the most of my life through my art and vigor!

I am a multi-hyphenate performance artist whose work embodies the resilience of a rose blooming through concrete. Growing up in the projects of Orlando, Florida, performance was not always easily accessible for me. From an early age, this inspired me to channel my artistic inclinations into uplifting my community and dedicating myself to making the arts more inclusive, ensuring my people have a seat at the table.

Being a Queer Black Man in the South gave me the resilience to push through any obstacle. In addition to this, growing up as the oldest of 5 has given me the drive and leadership capabilities to achieve anything I put my mind to.

My passions led me to Boston University where I was awarded a full-ride scholarship to pursue a BFA in Acting. Utilizing the resources of my institution I realized my love for performance also extends off the stage. While I have performed in multiple shows with our department, I have also choreographed pieces for our Annual Dance and Light Festival; written a Play (My Brother’s Keeper); directed multiple shows; and built modeling portfolio with multiple Boston-based magazine collectives. I was also granted the Ruby and Hart Scholarship, an award granted to students who “demonstrate a strong commitment to service and advocacy for the LGBTQ community”

Through BU, I was also able to go abroad to the beautiful city of Cape Town in South Africa. For 4 1/2 Months I studied at the University of Cape Town and traveled around the Country. I got to work at the Rainbow Academy, a business and performance school, as a Teaching Assistant! I also took classes around contemporary performance and African Dance. Although I was there to learn, being immersed in the culture and landscape of South Africa was a pivotal moment in my life and taught me so much about myself and my goals

Coming Back from SA, I have been preparing to graduate in May 2025 from BU. Throughout this year I have been working with SpeakEasy Stage as their Artistic Administrative Intern. I have also been preparing for my Acting Thesis and Performance Showcase (both of which are coming in Early 2025)!

As I enter Post-Grad, the goal is always to keep performing in any way shape, or form! I am currently unrepresented and seeking representation. Post-grad, I’m open to many possibilities. For now, I wanna stay in the North East region but in all honestly my heart wants to travel as much as I can and create in as many spaces as I can!
